Midlands Tourism Authority Announces New President/CEO

Columbia, SC – June 21, 2007 — Ric Luber, a former Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of three convention and visitors bureaus, including Austin, TX, Rochester, NY and Columbus, OH, has been named the new President and CEO for the Midlands Authority for Conventions, Sports and Tourism.

Luber, 60, presently a practicing attorney residing in Cadiz, Ohio, is a graduate of The Ohio State University and Capital University Law School. 

In addition to convention and visitors bureau experience, Luber also has represented the meetings side of the business.  As an attorney, he has most recently been responsible for site selection and contracting for the National Street Rod Association – a 55,000-member organization which plans national and regional events.  He was also past chapter president for Meeting Professionals International and on the planning committee for the 1995 Ryder Cup. 

Luber takes over July 2.  He replaces Steve Camp, who has been President and CEO since March, 2002.  Mr. Camp is retiring.
