Mike Fortner announces candidacy for Sheriff of Greenville County

March 7, 2024

Retired Deputy Sheriff Mike Fortner, owner of Aurora Farms Event Venue and Oak View Inn in Taylors, SC, is announcing his candidacy for Sheriff of Greenville County, SC.

A family man and business owner, Fortner has been married to his wife Yvonne for thirty-five years. The couple have twin daughters and one son who have provided them with nine grandchildren (all boys). The Fortners attend Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in Greer, SC.

During twenty-nine years of working with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Department, Fortner held many positions: Uniform Patrol, CID (criminal investigations division), White Collar Crimes, Master Deputy (CID, family violence/robbery/homicide units), and Office of Professional Standards (“OPS”), and the Office of Professional Compliance where Fortner ensured that the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office maintained its national and state accreditations through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and South Carolina Law Enforcement accreditation respectively.  He retired in August, 2022. In summary, Fortner’s time in Uniform Patrol, criminal investigations, internal investigations, and having the responsibility of ensuring the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office maintained its state and national accreditation has prepared him to be Sheriff of Greenville County.

How is the candidate going to improve the community?  What is the candidate going to do to make life better?  “To answer these questions,” says Fortner, “ I have started a series of blogs that will explain what I want to do should you elect me as your Sheriff. The blog is located at my website, https://www.votemikefortner.com.”

Fortner is a conservative Republican who believes in upholding the United States Constitution and adhering to the Republican platform.

To meet Mike Fortner, a fundraiser has been scheduled on Tuesday evening, 6-9pm on March 26, 2024 at Aurora Farms Event Venue, 1045 Milford Church Road, in Taylors. The event will be catered by Southern Palate Cuisine, with music provided by Josh Amos of Elevated Party.  The minimum donation is $75.
