Napa Winery Adds Leading U.S. Distributors in NY, NJ, PA, DC, TN, NC

CHARLESTON, SC – Mira Winery, which produces critically acclaimed wines of exceptional character and complexity exclusively from Napa Valley, announced its continued expansion of a national network through partnerships with a number of leading U.S. distributors of fine wine.

The newly announced partnerships are a significant milestone for the winery, founded in 2009 and recently profiled in the New York Times, as the growing distribution network will allow Mira to reach an increasing number of fine wine connoisseurs beyond its website, www.miranapa.com. Accounts interested in Mira wine can contact the appropriate distributor (see here) or Mira Winery.
“We believe a premier Napa Valley wine should be accessible, not everywhere but in the right places,” said Mira Winery Co-Founder Jim “Bear” Dyke, Jr. “These outstanding distributors are the best at understanding their markets and will be great partners in support of our efforts.”

Mira most recently signed on with Winebow for distribution in Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. The agreement follows relationships established with Best Brands in Nashville and Chattanooga, Tennessee as well as Mutual Distributing Company/Epiphany Brands in North Carolina. The new relationships add to Mira’s existing distribution network that includes Southern Wine and Spirits in South Carolina and Florida, Knoxville Beverage in Tennessee, Custom Beverage in Arkansas, Monterey Bay Wine Company in California and Five O’clock Brands in Michigan.

Peter Ruggie, a senior vice president at Winebow told the New York Times last week, “We look for people who have a passion and desire, and one thing I found with Jim is that he’s not going to quit. [Mira has] a nice expression and match[es] the terroir that [it is] grown in.”

Mira began as a partnership between Gustavo Gonzalez, whose 20-year winemaking career started in a winery lab and led him to be head red Winemaker for Robert Mondavi Winery, and Dyke whose 20-year political career started with parking cars in the Senate Parking lot and led him to the White House. Wine Enthusiast gave Mira’s 2010 Pinot Noir a 94-point rating, naming it an “Editors’ Choice” and gave the 2009 Syrah 92 points. Expert reviewer Steve Heimoff noted, “Winemaker Gustavo Gonzalez left Robert Mondavi to do his own thing, and what an auspicious start … The wine is wonderful.”
