Mirci consolidates facilities to combat mental illness and homelessness in Columbia, SC

May 28, 2024

The Mental Illness Recovery Center, Inc. (“Mirci”), a leading mental health nonprofit dedicated to addressing mental illness and housing instability in Columbia, is proud to announce the consolidation of its facilities under one roof at 2750 Laurel Street, Columbia, SC 29204.

The move marks a significant milestone in the organization’s mission to provide comprehensive support and services to those facing severe mental illness and homelessness within the Columbia community. By bringing together its resources and expertise in one centralized location, Mirci aims to streamline operations and enhance accessibility for individuals seeking assistance.

“Operating in four different locations has been a challenge, and we’re thrilled to have the MIRCI family all under one roof,” said Julie Ann Avin, CEO of Mirci.

Starting on Tuesday, May 28, the new facility at 2750 Laurel Street will open for client visits, serving as a hub for a wide range of programs and services designed to support individuals experiencing homelessness and mental health challenges. These services include clinical counseling and psychiatric services, case management, housing and disability assistance, job training, and more.

“This new location allows us to provide behavioral health services in an inviting and therapeutic space,” said Julie Miller, Chief Clinical Officer at Mirci. “We have always provided excellent clinical care, but our new space will enhance that experience for those we serve in our community. It is our hope that this space will provide comfort, hope, information, and inclusion both for the patients and service providers.”

Mirci invites its community partners and media representatives to join them in celebrating this important milestone at an upcoming Grand Opening event and facilities tour on Thursday, June 27th at 5:00 PM.
