MIRCI – Mental Illness Recovery Center Inc. welcomes new clinical director, Julie Plane

The Mental Illness Recovery Center Inc. announces Julie Plane as its new Clinical Director.

Plane’s primary responsibilities include: developing and implementing ongoing clinical program strategies, providing oversight and direction to operations of all clinical programs, and acting as a liaison with hospitals. Plane has 19 years’ experience in emergency room, inpatient and medical social work. A native of West Columbia, Plane received her Bachelor of Social Work from Winthrop University and Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina.

“We are excited to have Julie on our team as our new Clinical Director,” said executive director, Julie Ann Avin, “She has the experience and energy that aligns directly with MIRCI’s mission and core values, and we have no doubt she’ll be a great addition to the team.”

When asked what aspects she appreciated most about MIRCI, Plane said, “I appreciate the various programs offered through MIRCI and look forward to being a part of such a strong team dedicated to enhancing the lives of others.”

Prior to joining MIRCI, Plane gained expertise at Lexington Medical Center where she served as the Manager of Medical Social Work. She is also a current board member of the Midlands Area Consortium of the Homeless (MACH), and formerly served as a member of Lexington Medical Centers Ethics Committee, Lexington County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, and Midlands Sexual Assault Response Team. Her favorite hobbies include watching her sons’ sporting events, gardening, and going to see live music.
