Miss South Carolina’s Teen launches national youth volunteer initiative

August 12, 2026

Miss South Carolina’s Teen 2026 Logan Wells is celebrating the launch of The Serve Spot by Fresh Friends, a national online database designed to connect students with volunteer opportunities, as South Carolina observes Fresh Friends Community Service Month.

Gov. Henry McMaster proclaimed August 2026 as Fresh Friends Community Service Month in recognition of Fresh Friends, the youth volunteerism initiative founded by Wells. The proclamation encourages South Carolinians to engage in volunteer service, support local community efforts and promote civic participation as students return to school.

Created by Wells, The Serve Spot was developed to make community service more accessible for young people by providing a centralized digital resource for discovering opportunities to serve. Through Fresh Friends, Wells hopes to encourage students to build connections, develop leadership skills and create a lifelong commitment to service.

Wells founded Fresh Friends in 2024 to address loneliness among teens by building connections through community service. The organization has since grown to promote youth volunteerism through partnerships with schools and community organizations and the development of Fresh Friends Clubs.

Since being crowned Miss South Carolina’s Teen 2026 in June, Wells has received several honors recognizing her leadership and commitment to service. On June 21, the City of Columbia proclaimed Logan Wells, Miss South Carolina’s Teen 2026 Day in recognition of her work throughout the state.

In addition, she recently had her work published by the University of South Carolina Honors College, highlighting her scholarship and leadership beyond the Miss South Carolina’s Teen program.

“Community service creates connections that last far beyond a single volunteer project,” Wells said. “My hope is that The Serve Spot inspires more students to get involved, let their passions guide the way they serve, and see the difference they can make in their own communities!”

Wells will soon represent South Carolina at the Miss America’s Teen competition while beginning her senior year of high school and continuing to expand Fresh Friends and The Serve Spot nationwide.
