Moore School team wins international competition in Montreal

COLUMBIA, SC – January 28, 2009 – The Moore School of Business’ Case Competition Team has won the Concordia Cup at the prestigious John Molson Case Competition in Montreal. The team, comprising graduate students from the University of South Carolina’s Moore School, went undefeated as it competed against 36 teams from eight countries, including Canada, France, Denmark, Ireland, Singapore, Germany, Sweden and the United States.

In the round-robin tournament, student teams were given three hours to analyze a 15 – 30 page business case and then present their recommendations. The Moore School team completed five cases over a four-day period.

The team comprised Richard Allen and Philippe Herndon, French track of the IMBA program; Chelsea Render and Matthew Sockrider, global track of the IMBA program; and Josh Rabon, master’s degree student in accountancy. Patrick Demouy, a faculty member in the management program, is the team’s adviser.
