Mount Pleasant Mayor Declares February 27 “Lowcountry Parrot Head Day”

Mount Pleasant Mayor Linda Page has declared February 27 “Lowcountry Parrot Head Day” in honor of the Lowcountry Parrot Head Club’s 12th Annual Mardi Crawl on Shem Creek event.

Each year, the event encourages attendees to “party with a purpose,” with the proceeds benefiting several local charities. Over the past 11 years, Mardi Crawl has raised more than $100,000 for charities, and this year, the benefiting charities include the Alzheimer’s Association of South Carolina, Pet Helpers, and other local charities.

This day creates the opportunity for The Lowcountry Parrothead Club to coordinate a great day of fun and festivities, give back, and make Charleston an even better place  – and that enables all of us to make a real difference,” says Tina Rogonia, LCPH Public Relations Officer.

On “Lowcountry Parrot Head Day,” Mardi Crawl participants will meet for registration at noon and the crawl will start at 1pm. Attendees will then travel to the following participating restaurants: Red’s Ice House, RB’s, Vickery’s, The Shelter, Shem Creek Bar & Grill, and Tavern & Table. Participants can choose to “crawl” to participating locations via Charleston Water Taxi on Shem Creek or by land on Party Rollers’ party van. At each stop, guests can participate in interactive games, enjoy food and drink specials, listen to live music, and more.  This year’s musical performers include Dave Landeo and Three Sheets Island Band.

Guests will also have the chance to enter to win grand prizes including a two night stay at Shem Creek Inn, a cruise for ten on the Palmetto Breeze, a Margaritaville Concoction Maker gift set and much more.

Registration is available for $25 in advance at LCParrotHeads.org or $30 at the event. The registration price includes a short sleeve event t-shirt and a commemorative koozie. For an additional $10, pre-registered attendees can replace their short sleeve t-shirt with a long sleeve t-shirt. This option is only available to those who pre-register before Monday, February 15.

This year, The Quality Inn & Suites at Patriot’s Point will serve as the event’s host hotel, offering a special discounted room rate of $109 per night for Mardi Crawl attendees.
