MTC’s Certified Financial Planner Program Receives Outstanding Continuing Education Program Award

COLUMBIA, SC – December 9, 2009 – Midlands Technical College Continuing Education’s Certified Financial Planner Education Program has been selected as the 2008 Outstanding Continuing Education Program in South Carolina by the SC Association for Higher Continuing Education (SCAHCE). Recognized at the November SCAHCE conference at Hilton Head, SC, MTC’s program was the first established in the Midlands and has graduated more than 100 certificate students.
Midlands Technical College’s Certified Financial Planner Program (CFP®) is an 18-month required pre-licensing program for those seeking the CFP® professional credential. MTC’s program contains the career knowledge needed by financial planners, as determined by CFP Board of Standards, and is offered at the college’s Airport Campus and various other locations via interactive conferencing.
Midlands Technical College has extended its CFP® Certification Education Program to the state technical college system, enabling seven technical colleges throughout SC to receive the certified training required to sit for the national licensing examination.

MTC Continuing Education has also received state outstanding CE Program recognition for such varied offerings as its Auctioneering School, Animal Control Certificate Program, Administrative Professionals’ Conference and Spanish (Costa Rica) Language Immersion Program.
