MTC Instructor Janice Stoudemire Named ACBSP President-Elect for 2008-2009

Stoudemire scheduled to become ACBSP President in 2009-2010

COLUMBIA. SC – July 31, 2008 – Midlands Technical College accounting instructor Janice Stoudemire was named President-Elect of the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) during the recent ACBSP Annual Conference in New Orleans. Stoudemire’s term as President-Elect will run through 2009, when she will become President.

As an accounting instructor at MTC for the past 23 years, Stoudemire’s energies are focused on providing quality education to her students and preparing them for the world of work. Her dedication to the field of education has won her over twenty accolades at local, state and national levels including ACBSP Teaching Excellence-Region III, S.C. Governor’s Distinguished Professor, and Southern Region’s Outstanding Faculty Member Award from the Association of Community College Trustees.

Stoudemire has been an active member of ACBSP for over 15 years, at both the regional and national levels. She has been a member of the Associate-Degree Board of Commissioners for five years, chairing the commission twice. In addition, she is starting her fourth year as a member of the Board of Directors and serves on many of its committees. Stoudemire has received training as a mentor and serves as a site evaluator for ACBSP. Because of her long history of service to the organization, Stoudemire received ACBSP’s national Star Award in 2007 as well as the Distinguished Service Excellence Award from ACBSP-Region III in 2008.

Stoudemire is a leader and advocate for outcomes assessments and the development of student learning outcomes. She focuses on providing support for faculty dealing with the day-to-day challenges in educational assessment and planning. Stoudemire developed the outcomes assessment plan for MTC’s Business Department, prepares the ACBSP Quality Assurance reports, as well as designs many of the assessment instruments. She regularly makes presentations and conducts workshops at national conferences and also delivers presentations online. Recently, she was appointed to the National Advisory Board for the Center for Assessment and Planning Support and Regional Networks for Assessment Support.
