Mullikin Law makes Carolina Cup history

The Mullikin Law Firm has been named the presenting sponsor for the 2020 Carolina Cup. The firm will sponsor both the signature Carolina Cup steeplechase race as “title sponsor,” which they have sponsored for several years, as well as the entire day’s racing events – to include six races – as the sole “presenting sponsor” of the 86th annual Carolina Cup.

The presenting sponsorship for the entire day’s racing card is the first in the history of the storied Camden horse-racing event, according to the Camden Chronicle-Independent. And the day’s races will now be known as THE CAROLINA CUP PRESENTED BY MULLIKIN LAW.

“The Mullikin Law Firm, which I know as Tom and Virginia Ann Mullikin, has supported this event for now five years,” said John Cushman, chairman of the Carolina Cup Racing Association and a former #1 U.S. champion steeplechase jockey for four years running. “Tom and Virginia Ann have grown their presence at the Carolina Cup every year. They’ve brought this event to a much wider audience than we could. Tom is a visionary. He wants to expand the Carolina Cup and expose it to new people.”

The world-renowned Carolina Cup steeplechase race is hosted annually at the historic Springdale Racecourse in Camden, the oldest inland city in South Carolina. Located on the outskirts of the city at 200 Knights Hill Road, the Springdale Racecourse is also home to the National Steeplechase Museum.

The Carolina Cup, one of the nation’s most prestigious races and one of the most important on the national steeplechase circuit, holds the National Steeplechase Association’s attendance record of 71,000 people, including both spectators and participants.

The Carolina Cup presented by Mullikin Law will be held March 28, 2020.
