Mungo Division President Earns Designations

October 1, 2008

COLUMBIA, SC – October 1, 2008 – Mungo Construction is proud to announce that Division President Thom Chumney has earned the Master Builder designation by the Home Builders Association of South Carolina, and the Certified Green Professional designation by the National Association of Home Builders.

The Master Builder designation is assurance that the builder has a level of professionalism together with the knowledge and skill to meet customer expectations and ensure homeowner satisfaction.  Master Builders must complete rigorous training and education requirements, satisfy specific licensing and insurance requirements, have completed at least three major construction projects in the past two years, and are recommended by their peers.

Certified Green Professional™ designation recognizes builders who incorporate green building principles into new homes— without driving up the cost of construction. Class work leading to the designation provides a solid background in green building methods, as well as the tools to reach consumers, from the organization leading the charge to provide market-driven green building solutions to the new home building industry.

Formed in 2003, Mungo Construction LLC was created to focus on commercial, government and community development, and is committed to building affordable attached and detached rental and home ownership units by partnering with government entities to revitalize neighborhoods and the surrounding communities.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Thom has a degree in Business Administration, and has been in the residential construction industry since 1989.  Thom joined the Mungo organization in 1998. In addition to the recently earned designations, Thom is a licensed home builder, and a member of the Home Builders Association in Columbia, SC and Spartanburg, SC.
