Mungo Homes launches monthly food drive

June 28, 2017

Mungo Homes is pleased to announce the launch of a “Feed Your Neighbor” food drive to take place the first weekend of each month. Non-perishable food items will be collected at any one of the 16 area model homes, and donations will be transported directly to Harvest Hope Food Bank.

Steven Mungo said that it’s easy to forget that there are still those who have basic needs like food, despite that we’ve enjoyed a recovering economy in recent years.

The kick-off weekend for the “Feed Your Neighbor” food drive will begin on Friday, June 30th, and a list of model home drop-off locations is available on the Mungo Homes website. Persons wanting to make monetary donations can go to the website:  www.harvesthope.org and click on “Donate Now.” Or contributions can be mailed to Harvest Hope Food Bank, P. O. Box 451, Columbia, SC 29202.

About Harvest Hope

The mission of Harvest Hope Food Bank is to provide for the needs of hungry people by gathering and sharing quality food with dignity, compassion and education.

Harvest Hope began in 1981 as the result of a shared vision of business leaders, including the late Michael J. Mungo, and the faith community who set out to provide for the hungry in Columbia. Since then Harvest Hope has increased its mission to feed the hungry across 20 counties of South Carolina. Harvest Hope distributed over 28 million pounds of food last year and fed approximately 38,000 people a week.

About Mungo Homes

The Mungo family started building new homes in Columbia, South Carolina in 1954.  With a track record of success based on quality, trust, and stability, Mungo Homes – still family-owned and operated – builds in eight markets throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama.

Mungo Homes was named America’s Best Builder 2012 by Builder magazine – an award for overall excellence in homebuilding based on finance/operations, design/construction, customer service/quality, community/industry service and marketing.  That same year, the National Association of Home Builders honored Mungo Homes as the National Green Advocate of the Year for hauSmart, Mungo’s exclusive energy-efficiency program. The company was also recognized as the winner of the 2008 National Housing Quality Award and is the only South Carolina-based builder ever honored with this prestigious award.
