The first phase of construction on a new development, The Oaks at St. Anna’s, will begin in April 2021 and includes 285 affordable residential units constructed on the former Gonzales Gardens site at Forest Drive and Millwood Avenue.
As part of the The Oaks at St. Anna’s redevelopment (FKA Gonzales Gardens,) the Housing Authority of the City of Columbia, Mungo Construction, and UrbanMatters Development Partners estimates it will break ground in April 2021 on a new community, The Oaks at St. Anna’s, which will incorporate 285 affordably-priced residential rental units in the new mixed-income living environment.
Mungo Construction is serving as builder for the development which will be situated on property across from Providence Hospital at Forest Drive and Millwood Avenue. Virtual workshops for W/MBE businesses are slated to begin in November 2020.
First occupied in 1940, the Gonzales Gardens Apartments were demolished in 2017, with only the community center left standing.
