MUSC Foundation board elects new directors, officers

The Medical University of South Carolina Foundation Board of Directors announced its newly elected members and officers.

John Cahill was elected to serve as chairman of the MUSC Foundation Board of Directors. Cahill graduated from Harvard College and received a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School. Cahill is the vice chairman of Kraft Heinz Company and is a Charleston, South Carolina, native.

James MacLeod was elected to serve as vice chairman of the board. MacLeod earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Tampa, his Master of City and Regional Planning from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in Commercial Real Estate from the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. MacLeod is the nonexecutive chairman of the board of Sykes Enterprises and a native of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Thomas Flanagan was elected to serve on the board of directors. Flanagan retired from Stone Harbor Investment Partners. He has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Holy Cross College and a Master of Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Flanagan is a resident of Kiawah Island, South Carolina.

Jim Allhusen was elected to serve on the board of directors. Allhusen retired from Visa Inc. where he held a variety of executive management positions in Asia Pacific and Canada. He had a variety of start-up and international business experiences throughout his career, having spent over 20 years living and doing business in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai and Toronto. Allhusen is a graduate of Colgate University and continued his professional studies in banking at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and Colorado University. Currently, Allhusen serves as chairman of the board of directors of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry. He is a resident of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Ann Wrobleski was elected to serve on the board of directors. After having served as vice president for global government relations for International Paper, she retired at the end of 2016. Previously, she served in senior roles in the U.S. Congress, White House and U.S. State Department. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Stephens College and is a resident of Charleston, South Carolina.

The board of directors governs the work of the foundation. The board shapes the foundation’s direction through its mission, strategy, budget and key policies; ensures that the leadership, resources and finances in place match the foundation’s vision; and monitors and improves the performance of the organization.
