MUSC Health names Patti Hart chief nursing officer for Charleston division

Patrick J. Cawley, M.D., CEO of MUSC Health and vice president for Health Affairs, University, has named Patti Hart the chief nursing officer for the health system’s Charleston division. The appointment is effective immediately. In her new role, she will be responsible for nursing inpatient, ambulatory and perioperative nursing practice on the Charleston campus. The MUSC Health – Charleston division encompasses University Medical Center, ambulatory sites, post-acute care and joint ventures.

Hart joined MUSC in July 2016 as the associate chief nursing officer. In this role, she was responsible for nursing operations and other clinical services across the health system. She has built strong partnerships across the enterprise, including with the executive chief nursing officer, to ensure consistent nursing best practices throughout MUSC Health.

A nurse leader for most of her 33-year career, Hart was previously a director of Nursing at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. She is a graduate of Altoona Hospital School of Nursing and The Pennsylvania State University having earned her Bachelor- and Master of Science degrees in Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Old Dominion University.
