MUSC Weight Management and WW conducting research study

April 3, 2019

The Medical University of South Carolina Weight Management Center and WW (formerly Weight Watchers) are conducting a clinical research study for men and women who are overweight or obese and otherwise generally healthy.

There is no charge for participation. To be in the study, you must own an iPhone version iOS 8.0 (or later) and have at least 600 MB of available storage, as the app built for this study requires this capacity.

To qualify, you must be between the ages of 18 and 75, overweight or obese, not have any other significant illnesses or diseases (such as diabetes or heart disease), not be taking any medications for weight loss and meet other criteria. Qualified participants will attend WW workshops led by WW coaches to learn strategies for building healthy habits. Participants will also use a WW app to track eating, physical activity and weight.

The study requires a six-month commitment and 28 in-person visits. For more information, please call 843-792-5577 or email to [email protected].
