Museum & Gallery offers free admission for Smithsonian Museum Day Live!

The Museum & Gallery participates in the annual free admission on Saturday, September 24, as part of Smithsonian magazine’s Museum Day Live! nationwide event.
Museum patrons receive two free admissions when they present their Museum Day Live! ticket at either the Museum & Gallery at Heritage Green or the Museum & Gallery at Bob Jones University.
This one day event is held in conjunction with museums across the country, giving people the opportunity to be culturally enriched by museums in their area and beyond.
Visitors to the Museum & Gallery at Heritage Green will enjoy the current exhibition “The Art of Sleuthing,” which explores the mysterious side of the art world. This interactive display features unusual topics not typically seen in art exhibitions, including the horror of Nazi-looted art, identification of a painting’s artist, and the nuances of art forgery referencing the National Gallery’s Vermeer forgery on display at M&G. The exhibit is kid-friendly, with a children’s room and scavenger hunt for small sleuths.
Guests can also choose to use their ticket at the Museum & Gallery’s main location on the campus of Bob Jones University. Often referred to as “the hidden gem of the Upstate,” M&G’s collection on Wade Hampton Boulevard is comparable in its quality and scope to many European museums. Guests will see the museum’s extensive collection of over 400 European Old Master paintings, ancient Middle Eastern artifacts as well as historic furniture, tapestries and sculpture.
“Museum Day Live! is an easy opportunity for anyone to visit and enjoy not just great art, but what art reveals about people, history, and culture. Encountering an Old Master painting is like looking through a window to our own past, and what you see there expands your way of thinking and understanding” said, Erin Jones, M&G director.
