Musgrove Market celebrates one year in downtown Clinton
November 4, 2026
Musgrove Market marked its one-year anniversary in downtown Clinton with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce, drawing shoppers, fellow business owners and community supporters to celebrate a shop that has quickly found its footing on Main Street.
The market is owned by Susan Tallman, Ellen Templeton, Heather Tiller and Andrea Curtis. Several of the partners are realtors who spend their days helping bring new business into the downtown district, and Tallman said opening a store of their own was a natural next step.
“We’re always working to bring people downtown, and we decided the best way to show what’s possible was to do it ourselves,” Tallman said.
The idea had been building for years. Tallman said Templeton had long wanted a store of her own, so the group decided the time had come.
“We just said, okay, let’s do it,” Tallman said. “We can’t believe how well we’ve done, and it’s all because y’all come. We all have different aesthetics, and it all just works.”
Tiller credited property owner Chip Cooper with making the venture possible by leasing space at a fair price. She said affordable rent is key to helping new businesses take root downtown.
“If we want people to move into buildings downtown, the rent has to be affordable,” Tiller said. “That’s what makes this work.”
Tallman also credited Stacy and Charlie, the visionaries who founded The Lumberyard, with inspiring the group. Their success downtown proved what was possible and gave the partners the confidence to take the leap themselves.
Curtis said that same spirit is something the partners hope to pass along to others.
“They showed us it could be done,” Curtis said. “If we can do it, so can you.”
Chamber President and CEO Dabs Davis joined staff members Courtney Stonell and Graysen Martin, who led the crowd through the ceremonial ribbon cutting.
Shoppers can celebrate the milestone by stopping in to browse the market’s mix of finds from each of its four owners. Musgrove Market is located at 202 Musgrove St. in downtown Clinton and is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Every purchase at a locally owned shop helps keep downtown Clinton vibrant, so plan a visit and shop local this holiday season.
