WASHINGTON, DC – The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) announced Joe Trauger as its new vice president of government relations. Trauger will take the helm of an already vibrant government relations team responsible for coordinating the NAM’s advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill.

“Joe’s policy experience at the NAM, in the advocacy world and on Capitol Hill have helped advance key manufacturing priorities on behalf of the millions of manufacturing workers in the United States,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. “We welcome Joe’s leadership in this new capacity and will continue to count on his expertise and influence in navigating the complex world of policymaking in the halls of Congress. Most importantly, Joe possesses the highest degree of integrity. When he makes a commitment or is entrusted with confidence, he keeps his word.”

Trauger was previously the NAM’s vice president of human resources policy, where he advocated on behalf of manufacturers on an array of human resources issues important to our nation’s job creators, including health care, immigration, education and training, workplace safety and labor management. Prior to joining the NAM, Trauger operated his own consulting practice, which focused on health care policy.

Before moving to the private sector, Trauger spent more than a decade on Capitol Hill, where he served in multiple senior-level capacities, including as principal health adviser in the House majority leader and majority whip offices. Trauger earned his B.A. in political science from Minnesota State University – Mankato.
