About the Artist: Artist Greg Ramsey

At the beginning of 2021, Greg decided to pursue his interest in the fine arts world full-time, and took a leap of faith, leaving a 30+ year career in Marketing/Graphic Design as a founding partner and designer in the Greenville-based firm Brains On Fire. He struck out on an exciting journey to find and define himself as an “artist.” As an illustration major in college, years ago, he was always drawn to realism. So his work is realist in nature as he tries to capture what his eye sees in front of him, whether it be working from photographic references or something from real life. In recent years he has been fortunate to acquire commissions to paint things he loves. Right now those things include lots of dogs and cats, some of his own, some of his family, and lots of other peoples’ as well. As a bit of a fisherman, Greg loves the beauty, pattern, and color he sees in the many species of fish. He wants to explore painting birds and has also begun to set up still life scenarios in his studio. He is probably the most excited about the anthropomorphic commissioned pet portraits he is doing, which aim to merge a beloved pet and it’s owner, capturing the spirit and personality of both the animal lover and the human lover in one painting. When it’s all said and done, Greg’s hope is that his work will make someone smile. He is currently working in acrylics on art panels and canvas.

About the Collection: Stories We Know By Heart

This collection of paintings and narratives captures indelible notches in time from Greg’s own childhood: memories from his past that shape his present consciousness and even his future outlook. They are memories he knows and feels from deep in the pit of his being, but when shared, they become part of our story: Stories We Know by Heart. Greg’s hope is that these paintings resonate with you, the viewer, and bring to life stories you know by heart.
