New Art Exhibits at Columbia Metropolitan Airport

November 12, 2014

WEST COLUMBIA, SC – Continuing with our rotating arts program featuring local artists, Columbia Metropolitan Airport is pleased to announce the installation of two new art exhibits.

Curran Stone’s exhibit, “Make Your Mark, Leave Some Art,” is on display in the main lobby of the terminal near the USO. Curran, owner of Cartoys Kustoms (Cartoys, Inc) and a professional artist since 2005, works mostly with metal as well as plywood and fiberglass. Some of his work is made from recycled car parts from his automobile restoration projects. Curran’s airport exhibit is an example of his more whimsical work. He also creates functional art to include furniture that is both unique and an art piece that can be enjoyed.

Charles Hite’s exhibit, “Photographs of South Carolina…My Home, The Midlands and Beyond,” is on display in the connector of the terminal leading to the departure gates. Charles ventured into serious photography in 2009. Most of his scenic photos are from South Carolina and the Midlands including nature, old buildings, historic sites, and astronomy-related events. Charles has won several awards with his photography to include being juried into the Trenholm Artists Guild Rosewood Arts Festival and into AHA! A Celebration of Arts and Humanities. His photographs are on display most Saturdays at Columbia’s downtown Soda City Market.
