New Board Chair, Board Members at the Lourie Center

COLUMBIA, SC – The Lourie Center held their annual meeting on Thursday May 26, 2016 voting in a new board chair, two new board members and the executive officers for their 2016-2017 fiscal year.

Wally Graves was elected board chair. A University of South Carolina graduate, Graves is has been with BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina since 1975 and is Assistant Vice President and Certified Fraud Examiner. He has previously served with Habitat for Humanity, the United Way, City Year, and is active with Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina.

Ms. Warren Hughes and Wallace Cunningham were elected to the board of directors.

A native Columbian, Warren McInnis Hughes is a freelance writer and editor. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, she is also a former editor, writer and donor relations coordinator at USC. She previously served as an editor and public information specialist in the Office of the Governor, Division of Health and for the City of Columbia.

Wallace Cunningham has served as the Associate State Director of Multicultural Outreach at AARP South Carolina since May 2010. Prior to this, Cunningham served with the South Carolina Department of Social Services, where he retired after 25 years. Cunningham serves on the Board of Directors of Home Work of America. He is also member of 100 Black Men of Columbia Inc. Cunningham is a native of Greenville, SC and a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a major in Government and Public Administration.

Executive officers were also voted in; Charles Brown was elected new vice chair, Laura Spells was re-elected treasurer, and Russell Bell was elected new secretary.

Board member since 2010, Daisy DeLaine Block was designated an honorary lifetime board member.
