Museum Hosted Unique Live Auction To Benefit Under Resourced Families in South Carolina

EdVenture Children’s Museum auctioned the opportunity for a child to be the 2016 Face of EdVenture at the FROST gala presented by Jaguar Land Rover of Columbia on Saturday, January 30 at the museum. One-year-old Imani Christina Streater will be the new Face of EdVenture in 2016 and will receive a professional photo shoot and inclusion in marketing materials throughout the year.

“Imani is super excited to have this wonderful opportunity to be the Face of EdVenture Children’s Musuem,” said Kiara Cancer, Imani’s mother. “It will be fun for all of us to watch her grow and hopefully open doors for Imani at a young age.”

The evening of chilling cocktails, exquisite cuisine and live music raised funds using additional creative and exclusive auction items provided by the museum, sponsors and donors, bringing together more than 200 supporters of Yes, Every Child, EdVenture’s commitment to providing the joy of learning to under resourced families in South Carolina through reduced admission, outreach and educational programming.

The exclusive live auction held during FROST featured other extraordinary experiences including a Charleston weekend getaway in a Jaguar with two nights at the Market Pavilion Hotel, a signed NFL Panthers football and tickets to a 2016-2017 game, a VIP Columbia Fireflies baseball experience and more.

“The items offered our supporters unique and creative experiences that are not typically seen in a charity auction,” said Karen Coltrane, president and CEO of EdVenture. “We were especially gratified at the interest and response to the Face of EdVenture auction item. Kiara was thrilled to win the auction item for her daughter and we can’t wait to work with her throughout the year.”

Additional highlights from the evening include decadent food and live cooking stations provided by EdVenture Eats’ Chef Kenny Smith and Chef Ashely Hutto, snow queen appearances, interactive 3D printing, adult face painting and a liquid nitrogen marshmallow activity provided by EdVenture’s BioInvestigations Lab.

FROST was presented by Jaguar Land Rover Columbia. Additional support was provided by Aflac, SCE&G, Southeastern Freight Lines, BB&T, Columbia Living, South Carolina BLUE, Colonial Life, Abacus Planning Group, Beam & Hinge, The Art of Real Estate, First Citizens, TD Bank, Mr. and Mrs. James Becker, Webster University, JHS Architects and Collier International.

FROST was co-chaired by Stephanie Jones of SCANA and J.P. Scurry, vice president of Colliers International.
