New Leaf Builders’ Hayes Park signs commercial tenants, announces VIP residential sales

September 28, 2022

Hayes Park, a mixed-use community focused on sustainable development, has landed a number of commercial tenants and announced a timeline for launching residential sales. The community is being developed by New Leaf Builders, a locally owned firm committed to good design and creative living.

Located on the popular Maybank Highway corridor, the 16-acre community has protected more than 1,500 grand trees in its sensitive cultivation of the land for residential and commercial use. Hayes Park will include five acres of commercial space for retail, restaurants and other businesses, with the primary tenant mix being focused on neighborhood retail. The neighborhood will also feature 56 homes comprising both single family attached and townhome options.

Locally rooted, New Leaf’s focus for this project was to bring a commitment to the island. “Johns Island is a special place, and given the high visibility and scale of the grand trees on this property, we spent considerable time designing these buildings to work with the existing features of the property,” said Adam Baslow, New Leaf founder. “In order to deliver the best product for the community and bring Hayes Park to life, we worked around all the trees we could while protecting the natural wetlands on the rear of the property. It is exciting to see this uniquely designed neighborhood come to fruition after many years of intense focus. We know our future tenants and residents will be excited to call Hayes Park their home.”

Baslow adds that the focus initially for Hayes Park was to provide a destination for Johns Islanders to live, work and play. “We were fortunate to be able to work with the family that owned this property for multiple generations. They gave us the time to create something truly exceptional for all to enjoy,” Baslow said.

To date, numerous businesses have been secured: Weightspace, A Simple Tree, High Steaks Butcher Shop, Somm Wine Bar, Jimmy John’s, Grace Frederick Design, Seaboard Builders, New Leaf Builders Design Center and Opal Aesthetics. Commercial tenants will begin opening as soon as December 2023.

Residential sales information will be released in early November for the planned homes and homesite offerings. For further updates, please sign up at newleafsc.com/hayespark.
