Newberry College celebrates 5+ consecutive years among U.S. News’ Best Regional Colleges

Newberry College continues its record of recognition among the South’s best colleges in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, earning top honors among private colleges in South Carolina and standout regional rankings for value and support for veterans.

Newberry is the highest-ranked private college in South Carolina among Regional Colleges (South) in four categories: Overall, Top Private Colleges, Best Value Schools, and Best Colleges for Veterans. The College is also the second-highest-ranked private college in South Carolina for Top Performers on Social Mobility.

Among all Regional Colleges (South), Newberry earned top-five rankings for both Best Value Schools and Best Colleges for Veterans, reinforcing the College’s commitment to providing an accessible, high-value education and supporting students from a wide range of backgrounds.

Continued recognition for value

Newberry’s top-five Best Value Schools ranking continues its long-standing record of national recognition for the value of a Newberry education. The College is the highest-ranked private college in South Carolina in the Regional Colleges (South) category for Best Value Schools.

The recognition comes as Newberry continues to expand its commitment to college affordability. Beginning in fall 2027, the Newberry Tuition Advantage will provide 100% undergraduate tuition coverage for eligible new first-year and transfer students from South Carolina with a family adjusted gross income of $100,000 or less after applicable federal and state grants are applied.

Among the South’s best for veterans

Newberry also ranks among the top five Regional Colleges (South) for Best Colleges for Veterans and is the highest-ranked private college in South Carolina in the category.

The recognition reflects Newberry’s commitment to serving veterans, active-duty service members, and their families through personalized support and resources designed to help military-connected students successfully transition to and navigate college.

Creating opportunity through education

Newberry also earned recognition as a Top Performer on Social Mobility, ranking as the second-highest private college in South Carolina among Regional Colleges (South).

The Social Mobility ranking recognizes colleges for enrolling and graduating students who receive federal Pell Grants and reflects an important part of Newberry’s broader commitment to expanding access to higher education and helping students succeed.

Newberry has been recognized among the Best Regional Colleges for more than five consecutive years, demonstrating sustained recognition for the College’s academic experience, value, and commitment to student success.
