August 11, 2022

Newberry College will confer degrees upon its inaugural master’s degree candidates. The commencement exercises will take place Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. at Holland Hall, on the college campus.

The exercises will celebrate the first candidates for the Master of Science degree in organizational development and leadership. The event’s keynote speaker is Holly Whitfield, executive director of the Alliance for Full Acceptance. The Charleston-based nonprofit provides cultural competency training for organizations, funding for LGBTQ youth-serving organizations, and legislative advocacy support. Whitfield also joins Newberry College as executive-in-residence for the organizational development and leadership program.

Whitfield is a Ph.D. candidate in industrial and organizational psychology at Keiser University. She holds a master’s degree in leadership from Pfeiffer University; a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Nova Southeastern University; and a bachelor’s in education from Indiana University.
