North Augusta selects M.B. Kahn for more Water Treatment Plant improvements

COLUMBIA, SC – The City of North Augusta has partnered with M. B. Kahn Construction Co., Inc. to perform the next set of improvements to their Water Treatment Plant.
After working on extensive cost savings analysis, which saved the City of North Augusta almost $2 million, M. B. Kahn has been released to start the second phase of construction. Kahn is currently on schedule to complete Phase I of the project this month. The total value of the work for both portions of the improvements is $26.9 million.
During the initial phase of work M. B. Kahn constructed one of the largest concrete raw water storage tanks in the world. The 30 million gallon tank is being used as a back-up water reservoir for the City of North Augusta in case of an accident or harmful spill upstream in the Savannah River. The latest phase of improvements includes a new treatment structure and support facilities which will increase the City’s overall capacity to produce drinking water. The project is scheduled to be completed in early 2017.
