North Myrtle Beach Chamber Of Commerce Names George DuRant Vice President Of Tourism Development

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Marc Jordan, president and CEO of The North Myrtle BeachChamber of Commerce Convention & Visitors Bureau, along with Mendel Bell, chairman of the chamber’s board of directors, announced today that George DuRant has been named the chamber’s Vice President of Tourism Development.

DuRant will serve in this role with direct responsibilities for the CVB division of the North Myrtle Beach Chamber, and will report directly to the chamber’s president and CEO, directing and coordinating a comprehensive program of tourism development and promotion.

His specific responsibilities will include: significant intra-governmental, state governmental, business, media, and public contact; developing integrated marketing, advertising, media, public relations and sales strategy and tactics; and identifying tourist demand, monitoring competition, and establishing needed product.

Additional responsibilities include the establishment of the organization as the research authority for the destination tourism promotion, in concert with the State of South Carolina and other regional marketing organizations.

“The decision to add the position of Vice President of Tourism Development is a significant step in strategic initiatives set forth in our Building North Myrtle Beach campaign, one of which being to grow the visitor destination, said Jordan. “When we initiated an exhaustive search to fill it, and in the process talked with George, we knew he was the perfect fit. We are excited about his new role with our chamber and are excited about the future of our organization.”

DuRant was most recently vice president for strategic marketing with The Brandon Agency, where he led strategic marketing efforts for such visitor destination markets as Wilmington & Beaches CVB, Beaufort (S.C.) Regional Chamber of Commerce Travel & Tourism and Jackson County (N.C.) Tourism Development Authority (TDA).
