Oakland Elementary welcomes Assistant Principal Graylon Trammell as next Principal
April 21, 2026Charleston County School District (CCSD) announced the appointment of Graylon Trammell as Principal of Oakland Elementary School, effective July 1, 2026. This follows the transition of current principal Elizabeth Kackley, who will serve as Principal of North Charleston Elementary School next school year.
Ms. Trammell brings a strong background in instructional leadership and a deep understanding of teaching and learning to her new role. She currently serves as an assistant principal at James B. Edwards Elementary School, where she supports all aspects of school operations, including student achievement, staff development, and school culture. Her work includes leading data-driven decision-making, supporting Professional Learning Communities, coordinating testing and intervention systems, and strengthening family and community engagement.
Prior to her role as assistant principal, Ms. Trammell served as a District Instructional Specialist, where she supported schools across CCSD in curriculum implementation, coached instructional leaders, and designed professional learning to strengthen classroom instruction and student outcomes. She also brings experience as a numeracy coach and classroom teacher, where she was recognized as Teacher of the Year and built a strong foundation in standards-based instruction and student-centered learning.
