Ogletree Deakins Elects John Merrell as Shareholder

GREENVILLE, SC – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, announced that John Merrell has been elected to the position of shareholder. Merrell practices in the firm’s Greenville office.

Merrell represents management in all aspects of labor and employment law, including preventive employment and labor law advice related to matters under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). In his employment litigation practice, Merrell handles matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, noncompetition covenants, and breach of employment agreements. Merrell also regularly handles Unfair Labor Practice proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and advises clients on their rights and legal obligations involving union organizing activities. Merrell earned his J.D., with honors, from the University of South Carolina School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Clemson University.
