Old Edwards Reserve at Lake Keowee breaks ground on first new residential offering in more than 20 years

May 12, 2026

Old Edwards Reserve at Lake Keowee has officially broken ground on Laurel Village, an intimate new residential enclave that represents the community’s first real estate offering in more than two decades. Thoughtfully designed and positioned overlooking Laurel Pond, Laurel Village introduces a refined collection of 24 luxury cottages, further elevating the Reserve’s legacy of timeless mountain-lake living.

Set across approximately 12.8 acres, Laurel Village will feature a curated mix of three- and four-bedroom turnkey residences, each designed with generous outdoor entertaining spaces and a seamless connection to the natural landscape. The cottages will encircle a private putting course adjacent to the community’s driving range, state-of-the-art golf performance center, and planned
short course by Beau Welling Design.

Designed by Edgens Herzog Architects, Laurel Village reflects a sophisticated interpretation of classic mountain architecture, blending high-end materials with a warm, cottage-inspired aesthetic. Exterior features will include Brava roofing, Hardie Artisan siding, and lush, intentional landscaping—creating a cohesive and elevated village atmosphere that feels both timeless and inviting.

“This milestone marks an exciting new chapter for the Reserve,” said Tim Boeve, General Manager. “Laurel Village has been thoughtfully envisioned to complement the natural beauty and established character of this community while introducing a new opportunity for ownership that feels both rare and deeply connected to the lifestyle here.”

Residents of Laurel Village will enjoy the full breadth of amenities that define life at the Reserve—from lake access and golf on the community’s celebrated Jack Nicklaus-designed course to an active, nature-centered lifestyle where golf carts become the preferred mode of transportation. The groundbreaking follows recent enhancements within the community, including renovations to the
activity center, underscoring continued investment and momentum at the Reserve.

“Old Edwards has long been synonymous with intentional design and exceptional experiences,” said James Whitley, Co-Founder and COO of Landmark Properties. “With Laurel Village, we’re bringing forward a product that reflects those same values—highly curated, deeply livable, and rooted in a sense of place.”

Construction of Laurel Village is being led by P+F Construction, serving as general contractor under a Construction Manager at-Risk (CMAR) delivery method. The project is expected to be completed in summer 2027.

“Laurel Village is a natural evolution of the Reserve’s vision,” said Tim Boeve. “It offers a new way to experience this community—one that feels intimate, connected, and effortlessly aligned with the lifestyle our members value most.”

With its limited collection of residences, intentional design, and unmatched setting, Laurel Village represents a rare opportunity within one of the Southeast’s most sought-after private communities—honoring the past while thoughtfully shaping what comes next.
