One Columbia for Arts and History; South Carolina Book Festival

May 14, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – May 14 – 24, 2014  –

It’s Kind of a Big Deal

SC Book FestivalWe can all agree that books are pretty important. The nationally recognized South Carolina Book Festival will be this week. With so many activities going on, your experience can be designed by you each day or each hour! The best part? It’s a free event! So check it out this week for one of the best book festivals around.

Another great event with the SC Book Festival is the reception featuring Claws by Archibald Rutledge. Unseen by readers for a century,  Rudledge’s mastery of outdoor storytelling shines through in every evocative word of a new edition now available. It has been newly illustrated by Southern artist Stephen Chelsey. Award-winning outdoors writer and noted Rutledge scholar Jim Casada provides the volume’s introduction, and retired SC conservation officer and author Ben Moise offers and afterword.

This Thursday will be another Third Thursdays in the Vista. There will be gallery openings, music, and much more. Check it out for a night of arts, food, and entertainment!

Also, don’t forget that the deadline for the COLORES Children’s Drawing Contest isThursday, May 21. So be sure to get any and all submissions in before that deadline.
