Orangeburg law firm donates 250 turkeys for Thanksgiving

For the sixth consecutive year, the Orangeburg law firm Lanier & Burroughs donated 250 turkeys to local individuals and families in need of a little assistance during Thanksgiving. “One of the best things about our jobs is that we get to help people,” said attorney Shane Burroughs. “It is especially rewarding to be able to help members of our community during Thanksgiving,” he added. “We are thankful for the continued opportunity to represent and help the people of Orangeburg, and for our ability to give back this holiday season.”
Lanier & Burroughs is a firm based on helping people in their times of need, usually when they suffer an injury or death in the family due to an accident, and providing turkeys to members of our community is another opportunity to help people outside of the courtroom. “It’s all worth it when you see people that might need a little help to give it to them, if you can,” said attorney Lewis Lanier. “Maybe you’ll be sitting at the table with them, at least in spirit, and enjoy in their Thanksgiving,” he added.
As in years past, Lanier & Burroughs asked local church leaders and non-profit organizations to provide names of individuals and families that would benefit from a little help at Thanksgiving, including the following: Columbia Road Church of God, Unity Fellowship Community Church, Browns Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Edisto Drive Senior Center, Wesley Christian Academy, Southern Methodist Church, St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Shepherd Ministry, Rivelon Elementary School, Williams Chapel AME Church, Canaan United Methodist Church, Salvation Army, Zion Church, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Mt Pisgah Soup Kitchen, CASA: Citizens Against Sexual Assault, St. Stephens United Methodist Church, St. Paul’s Baptist Church, “PROJECT LIFE” Positeen, Inc., and Emancipation Missionary Baptist Church.
“We understand that holidays can be difficult for individuals recovering from injuries and for families who recently lost a loved one, and we hope that our small gesture will provide some comfort to them during their healing process,” said attorney David Marshall.
