Ortec expanding Anderson County operations

December 5, 2016

Ortec, a leading biomaterial and polymer technology company, is expanding its existing operations in Anderson County. Complementing recent growth at its facilities in both Pickens and Greenville Counties, the company intends to invest $20 million and create 60 new jobs in Anderson County.

Founded in 1980, Ortec helps its clients reach market goals through technical expertise, high-quality systems, regulatory compliance, confidentiality and personalized service. The company develops and manufactures custom polymers for a wide variety of industries.

To expand in Anderson County, Ortec is upfitting its existing 200,000-square-foot building, which is located at 500 Westinghouse Road in Pendleton, S.C. Ortec will be investing in new production equipment and support infrastructure, allowing for an added focus on the production of materials going into specialty coatings, adhesives, automotive applications and graphic arts technology.

“Ortec is pleased to continue to grow its business footprint in upstate South Carolina. I want to acknowledge the Anderson County Economic Development Group, the Anderson County government officials and the S.C. Department of Commerce for their efforts in creating a pro-business environment to support this growth,” said Ortec, Inc. President Larry Brotherton.

The expanded facility is projected to be operational in the third quarter of 2018, and hiring of new positions will begin in early 2018.
