Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge designated an American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

May 11, 2016

Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The hospital joins Palmetto Health Baptist and Palmetto Health Richland. The designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the ACR’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imagine Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy).

“Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge breast imaging services is joining our other Palmetto Health Breast Centers in meeting the standards of excellence that are required by the American College of Radiology, which oversees mammography and breast imaging in the United States. We are proud to be able to add this designation. We believe it shows our continuous dedication to provide our community with the highest level of care,” said Julie Riley, imaging manager, Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge.

Peer-review evaluations, conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
