Palmetto Healthy Start hosts free event aimed at empowering parents, April 22

Empower your mind, body and soul at a free event Friday, April 22, 8:30 a.m.3 p.m., at the River Center at Saluda Shoals Park, 5605 Bush River Road, Columbia. Palmetto Healthy Start is organizing a symposium designed to help moms and dads of babies and young children learn more about their role as parents and role models for their family. The event is free and includes breakfast and lunch.

Topics and sessions will focus on stress management, parenting, prenatal support, yoga, relaxation and more. Exhibitors and community partners will provide advice, information and resources for event participants. Keynote speakers include Beasy Baybie, radio personality from 103.9 FM and Kyle Green, inspiration speaker, author and mentor.

Palmetto Healthy Start is a member of the national Healthy Start initiative, a free program that encourages moms-to-be to begin prenatal care as soon as they become pregnant. This is available to pregnant teens in Richland County, and parents living in Lexington or Sumter counties.
