Palmetto Place announces new board members

Palmetto Place announced the appointment of two new members to their Board of Directors.
Joining the Board of Directors are Dr. Eric Brown of Palmetto Health and Rich Spicer of Lambert Architecture.
“Our newest board members carry our mission in their hearts,” said Erin Hall, Executive Director, “They bring talent, expertise and energy to the table and we are very fortunate to have them by our side as we continue to serve abused, neglected and homeless children and teens.”
Dr. Eric Brown has served as the Physician Executive/Vice President of Medical Affairs at Palmetto Health Richland since February of 2014. He is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician, faculty member with the Palmetto Health Emergency Medicine Residency Program, and Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Brown is an active member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH). He served as the Chair of the Public Affairs and Government Relations Committee for 3 years before joining Board of Directors in January of 2010.
Dr. Brown completed his baccalaureate at Duke University and entered medical school at Boston University School of Medicine, where he was inducted as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina.
Rich Spicer has worked in the construction field for more than 15 years, including being an owner with a Columbia-based General Contractor. He has his Bachelor’s of Science in Design from Clemson University. Rich has extensive experience and knowledge in both new and renovation projects and understands the value of open communication between all parties. He has been involved in the estimating and project management of more the $1 million in successfully completed construction projects.
Spicer is currently serving as Vice President at Lambert Architecture and Construction Services. He is a former member of the Carolina’s Association of General Contractor’s, (2003-2012) and a past president of the Columbia Contractor’s Association. Spicer has been close to the Palmetto Place family throughout their capital campaign, Saving More Children, to expand the shelter.

Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter is a safe haven for abused and neglected children and homeless teens throughout the state of South Carolina. We provide a safe and nurturing environment where children have access to after-school programs, tutoring, recreational and social activities. We offer a broad range of services that concentrate on personal healing and development including medical attention, mental health care, crisis adjustment and transitional counseling. We help children succeed; their grades improve and their behaviors stabilize. Here, the state’s most desperate children are home.
