Past Superintendent Being Honored For Oconee Chamber’s Hall Of Fame Award

SENECA, SC ― The Oconee County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Dr. Mike Lucas as the recipient of the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce’s Hall of Fame Award for 2015. The award will be presented at Spotlight Oconee, the Chamber’s Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner.

Since 1982, the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors selects an individual to receive The Hall of Fame Award as recognition of their exemplary service to our community over a period of time. This award is given to a leader who have supported local organizations and efforts to make Oconee County a great place to live.

Dr. Mike Lucas served as Superintendent of the School District of Oconee County for seven years before retiring last May. During his leadership, the school district experienced great success. Dr. Lucas is an advocate for education and making sure that students in Oconee were prepared for the life ahead of them. Many people have been touched by his warm demeanor and true passion to our community.

“The Board of Directors had unanimous support for recognizing the Dr. Lucas this year for our Hall of Fame Award. He has always maintained an active role in the Chamber and more importantly, shaped our education here in Oconee.” said Julian Davis, Board Chair of the Greater Oconee Chamber of Commerce. “We are honored to present him with this well-deserved award.”

Everyone is invited to attend Spotlight Oconee, the Oconee Chamber’s Awards and Annual Meeting dinner to celebrate with Dr. Lucas and 29 other award finalist. Spotlight Oconee will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15 at the Gignilliat Community Center at 621 N. Townville St in Seneca.
