Pawleys Island-based leadership firm introduces SHIFT, a new brand built around growth and lasting change

June 26, 2026

Every meaningful change begins with a shift.

A shift in perspective. A shift in behavior. A shift in how we show up for the people around us.

That simple idea inspired the launch of SHIFT, the new name and brand identity for the Georgetown-based leadership development and executive coaching firm formerly known as Five Capitals.

While the name has changed, the mission remains the same: helping people become more effective leaders, stronger teammates, and healthier humans.

Over the past year, the SHIFT team has been working to clarify and strengthen the company’s identity around a simple belief: leadership begins from within.

SHIFT CEO Tim Urmston

“We believe leadership is an inside-out journey,” says Tim Urmston, who leads the organization. “When people grow, teams grow. When teams grow, organizations thrive. That’s why we help people make meaningful shifts—in themselves, their teams, and their organizations.”

For the team at SHIFT, leadership isn’t reserved for executives or business owners. It’s something that impacts every part of life.

Whether someone is leading a company, managing a team, serving customers, raising a family, or influencing their community, leadership is ultimately about how we show up for others.

Helping People Grow

SHIFT works with business owners, leadership teams, managers, and emerging leaders across a wide range of industries.

Some clients are founders navigating growth and increasing complexity. Others are leaders who have recently stepped into management roles and are trying to figure out how to lead people effectively. Many are successful by traditional measures but feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to get their team to the next level.

The challenges are often familiar:

  • Communication breakdowns.
  • Misaligned teams.
  • Difficulty navigating change.
  • Low trust.
  • Lack of accountability.
  • The feeling that everyone is working hard but not always moving in the same direction.

According to Urmston, those challenges rarely have simple answers.

“Most people don’t need more information,” he says. “They need someone to help them see what they can’t see on their own. That’s often where growth begins.”

Assess. Coach. Grow.

At the heart of SHIFT’s approach is a simple framework:

Assess. Coach. Grow.

The process begins by helping leaders better understand themselves through assessments, feedback, and reflection. Coaching then helps turn those insights into action, while ongoing development creates lasting growth over time.

The goal isn’t simply to create better leaders. It’s to help people become more self-aware, more intentional, and more effective in the way they lead and serve others.

For Lane Byrum, who leads client partnerships at SHIFT, many workplace challenges come down to relationships.

“We work with leaders who are frustrated because conversations aren’t happening, trust is low, or people are making assumptions about each other,” says Byrum. “Most of the time, the problem isn’t that people don’t care. It’s that they don’t fully understand each other.”

Byrum believes some of the biggest breakthroughs happen when leaders learn to listen better, communicate more clearly, and understand how their actions affect the people around them.

“When people feel understood, trust starts to grow,” he says. “And when trust grows, teams work better together.”

More Than a New Name

The name SHIFT reflects the company’s belief that transformation rarely happens all at once.

Real growth is often the result of a series of intentional decisions made over time.

A difficult conversation.

A new perspective.

A healthier habit.

A better question.

A different response.

Small shifts create momentum. Momentum creates change.

The company’s new logo was designed to reflect that idea, symbolizing movement, growth, and the ongoing process of becoming.

For the SHIFT team, the rebrand is less about introducing something new and more about creating a clearer expression of the work they have always been passionate about.

When Leaders Grow, Everything Benefits

Dr. Ben Redmond, Chief Operating Officer of SHIFT, sees the impact of leadership development from an organizational perspective.

“A lot of leaders feel like they’re carrying the weight of the organization on their shoulders,” says Redmond. “They know where they want to go, but they’re struggling to get everyone moving in the same direction.”

According to Redmond, leadership development often helps organizations solve problems that initially appear unrelated to leadership.

“Sometimes a communication problem is really a leadership problem. Sometimes a culture problem is really a leadership problem. Sometimes a growth problem is really a leadership problem,” he says. “When leaders grow, a lot of other things tend to improve too.”

While the brand has evolved, the team’s mission remains unchanged: helping people grow into leaders who create positive impact in the lives of others.

“The best leaders aren’t focused on themselves,” says Urmston. “They build trust. They develop people. They help others succeed. That’s the kind of leadership we’re trying to cultivate.”

Because when people grow, teams grow. And when teams grow, organizations thrive.
