September 19, 2023

Presbyterian College Athletic Department Joins Forces with Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and Laurens County Cancer Association for a Week of Celebration and Fundraising

The Presbyterian College Athletic Department is proud to announce, “PC Goes Pink,” a dedicated initiative in partnership with the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and the Laurens County Cancer Association (LCCA) to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This week-long event aims to honor those who have bravely battled cancer, remember those we have lost, and raise funds for a crucial cause.

During the month, PC is set to host a series of events, including four home athletic games and a culminating “Run Like a Mann 5k” organized by LCCA. The primary focus of this initiative is to bring the community and campus together to make a tangible impact while highlighting the importance of breast cancer awareness.

Jen Williams, Assistant AD for Marketing and Sales at Presbyterian College, emphasized the personal connection many have with this cause: “We all know someone who has been affected by this horrible disease. Our department wanted to do more than wear pink and hand out ribbons. Our goal was to come up with an idea to bring the community and campus together while making an impactful difference, and I feel like this event is accomplishing those goals. We are excited to partner with both the ZTA sorority and LCCA.”

The event schedule is as follows:

10/3 – Men’s Soccer vs. Wofford at 7:00 pm

10/4 – Softball vs. Spartanburg Methodist at 6:00 pm

10/4 – Women’s Soccer vs. Gardner Webb at 7:00 pm

10/6 – Volleyball vs. Gardner Webb at 6:00 pm

10/7 – Run Like a Mann 5k at 8:30 am

All events are free to attend, and PC encourages fans to support the Laurens County Cancer Association through donations. The LCCA, a key partner in this initiative, is dedicated to raising funds for individuals financially burdened by a breast cancer diagnosis and creating awareness in the Laurens County community.

LCCA Director Anna Miller expressed her excitement for the collaboration: “The LCCA is thrilled to partner with Presbyterian College in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The goal is to raise funds for those financially burdened by a breast cancer diagnosis and raise awareness in the Laurens County community. As the Blue Hose goes PINK this October, we graciously accept your donations to further our mission in Laurens County! Thank you, PC! Go Blue Hose!”
