PC Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band to present “Rhythm and Resonance” Nov. 5
November 4, 2026The Presbyterian College Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band will present “Rhythm and Resonance: An Evening of Music Variety” on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Belk Auditorium on the Presbyterian College campus in Clinton.
The concert marks one of the first public performances under Dave Bruce, the college’s new director of instrumental music. Bruce brings 34 years of music teaching experience to the program. He earned his undergraduate degree from Furman University and his master’s degree from Southern Wesleyan University.
“This concert is a celebration of what happens when students and community members come together to make music,” Bruce said. “We chose a program with something for everyone, from blues and big band to marches and music from the movies. I’m proud of the work these musicians have put in, and I hope the audience leaves with a song in their heads and a smile on their faces.”
The Jazz Band will open the evening with a lively set that moves from soulful grooves to playful big band numbers, with a few surprises along the way. Kipper Ackerman, PC director of choral activities, will join the band as a featured guest for one of the selections.
The Wind Ensemble will take the stage for the second half of the program, offering a mix of stirring marches, reflective pieces and energetic works, along with a nod to a popular movie musical.
The ensembles include PC students alongside community members from the area who volunteer their time and talents. More than a dozen community musicians will perform across the woodwind, brass and percussion sections.
The concert is open to the public.
