Petite Party Shop opens on Devine Street in Columbia

A new boutique focused on celebrations, entertaining and gifting is opening on Devine Street, expanding a local wedding planning business into the retail market. Petite Party Shop(opens in new tab), located at 3215 Devine St.(opens in new tab), will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17.

Owned by Alexandra Woodlief, Petite Party Shop offers a curated collection of party and celebration goods, hostess and everyday gifts, paper goods, entertaining essentials, children’s celebration items and seasonal collections. The shop also offers custom party orders and a signature Bon Bon Bar featuring sweet treats and Swedish candy.

The new store is an expansion of Alexandra Madison Weddings, Woodlief’s wedding planning and design company, which is celebrating its 10th year.

Petite Party Shop and Alexandra Madison Weddings now share the Devine Street location. Woodlief said the expansion into retail does not represent a move away from weddings. The Alexandra Madison Weddings team will continue planning and designing weddings while the new shop provides an opportunity to serve customers celebrating birthdays, holidays, dinner parties and other everyday occasions.

“For the last 10 years, Alexandra Madison Weddings has had the privilege of celebrating some of life’s biggest moments,” Woodlief said. “Petite Party Shop gives us the opportunity to celebrate all the little moments in between, too. We’re so excited to put down roots on Devine Street and become part of this incredible community.”

Woodlief said her experience planning weddings and celebrations helped inspire the concept for Petite Party Shop. She wanted to bring the same attention to detail and approach to design used in weddings to smaller celebrations and everyday gatherings.

Devine Street was a natural fit for the new concept, she said, because of its concentration of locally owned businesses, neighborhood atmosphere and strong sense of community.

Woodlief envisions Petite Party Shop as a place customers can visit for a last-minute hostess gift, supplies for a birthday celebration, something sweet from the Bon Bon Bar or inspiration for an upcoming gathering.

The grand opening marks a new chapter for Woodlief’s businesses while keeping celebrations at the center of both.
