Pick Me! SC: South Carolina’s statewide adoption event is back!

June 17, 2021

50 shelters, rescues and Petco stores are working together to adopt 1,600 animals, June 18 – 27.

Pick Me! SC is coming back to a shelter near you June 18 – 27.  Dozens of shelters, rescues and Petco locations around the state are getting involved in this amazing lifesaving event.

The statewide adoption event is sponsored by Petco Love (formerly the Petco Foundation), in partnership with BOBS from Skechers. Pick Me!  SC is organized by No Kill South Carolina 2024 an initiative of  Charleston Animal Society. The goal is to save 1,500 lives through adoptions. Most shelters and adoption centers are offering “no-fee” or “low-fee” adoptions as part of this lifesaving event. No Kill South Carolina 2024 is a program of Charleston Animal Society.

“As we re-emerge from this pandemic, we know people are going to be so excited to reconnect with their local shelters,” said the Chief Project Officer of No Kill South Carolina 2024 Abigail Appleton. “Saving every healthy and treatable pet is a goal that is within our reach if we all work together!”

Petco Taking Part

Petco stores will host shelters and rescues to reach even more potential adopters. “Almost every Petco location across South Carolina is participating and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Appleton.

Long-Term Impact of Pick Me! SC

Many people who adopted at Pick Me! SC last year, shared that they had never visited their local shelter before the Pick Me! SC. Organizers hope people will continue to see the value that shelters bring to their individual communities.

As part of the Pick Me! SC project, 100 dogs and cats will be spayed and neutered at rural shelters around the state to, thanks to Petco Love. If you are adopting, please remember to bring a leash for dogs or a carrier for cats. Some of the locations may have these items for sale but be sure to check in advance. For more information, visit PickMeSC.org.  VIDEO CLICK HERE.  PHOTOS CLICK HERE.
