Picnic for the Parks sets attendance record, raises $55K for 26 Charleston parks

May 1, 2025

A record-breaking crowd gathered at Hampton Park’s Rose Pavilion on Sunday, April 27, 2025, for the Charleston Parks Conservancy’s 4th annual Picnic for the Parks, raising $55,000 to support the care of 26 local parks and nearly 200 hours of free community programming.

“Picnic for the Parks reflects the importance of the public realm to the Charleston community,” said Jessica Gibadlo, Board Chair. “It’s become a cherished family tradition and a showcase of the Conservancy’s work.”

As a key annual fundraiser—alongside Shucked & Sauced and Party for the Parks—the event helps maintain green spaces and supports programs like the Teddy Bear Picnic, Light the Lake, Music in the Parks, Bird Walks, and the upcoming Bloom Charleston festival.

Attendees enjoyed food and drinks from top local vendors, live music from Green Levels, and family-friendly activities including a petting zoo, face painting, flower crown crafting, and classic games.

Event sponsors, including United Community Bank, Beemok Hospitality Collection, and HobNob Entertaining, along with over a dozen local businesses, contributed to the event’s success.

The Conservancy invites the public back for the 5th annual Picnic for the Parks on April 26, 2026. Learn more at charlestonparksconservancy.org.
