Poe Mill Music, Swanson’s Warehouse partner to keep Greenville’s music community growing
July 9, 2026Four industry professionals join Poe Mill Music as Swanson’s Warehouse prepares for renovations and transitions toward private events.
Poe Mill Music has expanded its team with the addition of four music venue professionals, whose collective expertise in live events, production, artist relations and marketing, will support the venue’s continued growth as one of the Upstate’s premier destinations for live music and creative collaboration. Joining the music venue are Merilee Pierce, Britt Barker, Rylee Marshal and Tyler Marsh.
These individuals bring years of experience supporting artists and audiences throughout the Upstate, most recently at Swanson’s Warehouse.
The new hires reflect a collaborative transition between Poe Mill Music and Swanson’s Warehouse as the latter enters its next chapter. Swanson’s Warehouse will continue operating with a focus on private events and occasional cross-promoted shows with Poe Mill while planning for renovations and rebranding.
Rather than marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, the transition reflects the collaborative spirit that has helped Greenville’s music community to flourish, where venues, artists and industry professionals work together to create new opportunities for musicians and audiences alike. Together, the transition ensures the relationships, experience and passion cultivated at Swanson’s Warehouse will continue serving artists and audiences through Poe Mill Music while both venues embark on exciting new chapters.
“We are very excited to welcome Merilee, Britt, Rylee and Tyler to Poe Mill Music. Beyond their professional experience, each of them genuinely cares about artists and Greenville’s music scene,” said Jason Nodine, general manager of Poe Mill Music. “Music has always been bigger than any one venue; it’s a language that connects people regardless of background, generation and experience. We are grateful to David and the Swanson’s team for partnering with us to ensure their talent continues serving artists and audiences across the Upstate.”
“The people supporting a venue are what create its culture, and watching this team grow has been one of the most rewarding parts of building Swanson’s,” said David Stone, owner of Swanson’s Warehouse. “As we begin our next chapter, I couldn’t be happier, knowing they’ll continue investing in Greenville’s music community through Poe Mill Music. Jason, Brice and their team share our belief that artists deserve places, and people, that champion them. I’m excited to continue supporting Greenville’s music scene in new ways, and for all they’ll accomplish.”
At Swanson’s, these team members played key roles in live music programming, venue operations, production and creative services. In their new roles, each team member will help strengthen a different aspect of Poe Mill Music’s growing operation.
A classically-trained vocalist with a background in music performance, Pierce has produced performances ranging from local artists’ debut shows, to surprise appearances by nationally recognized musicians, including Marcus King. As venue director and talent buyer, she brings years of experience producing live events, cultivating artist relationships and managing venue operations.
Barker, a lifelong musician, touring multi-instrumentalist, record producer and educator, joins as production manager and head engineer, where his experience in live production, recording and studio management will further elevate Poe Mill Music’s technical capabilities for artists and audiences.
Joining as marketing director, Marshall combines her experience as a music photographer with a deep understanding of Greenville’s growing creative community. Her work has documented the evolution of countless local artists, and she now brings that passion for storytelling and audience engagement to Poe Mill Music.
Marsh joins Poe Mill Music as studio and live engineer after building a career spanning recording studios, concert venues and creative collaborations throughout the United States and Europe. A graduate of Leeds Conservatoire, with a background in music production, Marsh brings experience in recording, mixing, live sound and contemporary music production.
“Greenville’s music scene has reached a point where collaboration matters more than competition,” said Brice Smith, owner of Poe Mill Music. “Swanson’s Warehouse has played an important role in shaping the creative culture we enjoy today, and we’re grateful to David for partnering with us during this transition. By bringing together talented people who care deeply about artists, we’re strengthening an ecosystem where musicians have more stages, more resources and more opportunities to grow; this is the kind of creative community we want Poe Mill Music to help foster for years to come.”
Swanson’s Warehouse will continue focusing on private events while planning its next chapter through a comprehensive reimagining of the venue. As planning and redevelopment efforts continue, no reopening timeline has been established. In the meantime, Poe Mill Music will continue expanding its concert calendar, recording studio and artist programming.
