Locally owned studio invites community to celebrate milestone with custom design unveiling and in store event

Ponthieux’s Jewelry Design Studio will celebrate 25 years of custom craftsmanship with an anniversary event on Thursday, April 23 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., featuring live music, hors d’oeuvres, and the unveiling of a custom-designed pendant created in collaboration with customers through a multi-step design process that invited them to vote on each stage of the pendant’s development.

The one-of-a-kind pendant will be unveiled during the event and later auctioned at the 16th annual TD SYNNEX Share the Magic celebration on October 10 at the Greenville Convention Center. The event benefits Make-A-Wish South Carolina, A Child’s Haven, Clement’s Kindness, Pendleton Place, and this year’s President’s Choice Charity, The Meyers Center, supporting children and families in need across the Upstate.

“For us, 25 years is less about a milestone and more about the people who have trusted us with some of the most meaningful moments in their lives,” said Mike Ponthieux, founder and GIA Graduate Gemologist. “This celebration is an opportunity to reflect on that and to say thank you in a way that brings everyone together.”

Founded in 2001 by Mike and Wanda Ponthieux, the studio has grown from a small, 700 square foot space into a destination for custom jewelry design. Over the past 25 years, the business has evolved across three locations, from its original storefront on Augusta Street, to a larger space near Augusta Grill, and most recently to its current home in Aston’s McDaniel Village.

Mike’s interest in jewelry design began at a young age, experimenting with stone cutting and silversmithing before formally studying the craft. After moving to Greenville, where Wanda is from, the two built the business side by side—growing steadily through referrals and a reputation for thoughtful, custom work.

“We’ve always wanted this to feel like more than just a store,” said Wanda Ponthieux, co-founder and lead designer. “Being part of our customers’ stories, whether it’s an engagement, an anniversary, or something completely custom, is what has made this so meaningful over the years.”

Known for its highly personalized approach, Ponthieux’s offers a full range of services, including custom jewelry design, repairs, appraisals, and restorations.

Today, Ponthieux’s has expanded its capabilities with advanced design technology, a larger showroom and workspace, and a growing team, while maintaining the same hands-on approach that has defined the studio since its founding.

Each custom piece is created through a comprehensive, fully in-house process that typically takes six to eight weeks from concept to completion. The process includes consultation, computer-aided design (CAD), a 3D-printed prototype, casting, bench work, and final inspection—ensuring a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail at every stage.

The 25th anniversary celebration is open to the public and will take place at Ponthieux’s Jewelry Design Studio, located at 1922 Augusta Street, Suite 103 in Greenville.
