Pope Flynn Attorney Larry Flynn Receives Compleat Lawyer Platinum Award from USC School of Law

July 1, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – Larry Flynn, an attorney with Pope Flynn, LLC, a public finance and governmental law firm with offices in Columbia, Charlotte, and Spartanburg, has received the USC School of Law Compleat Lawyer Platinum award. The Compleat Lawyer Awards were established “to recognize alumni for outstanding civic and professional accomplishments” who have “made significant contributions to the legal profession and exemplify the highest standards of professional competence, ethics and integrity.” To receive the platinum level award, an attorney must have practiced for 31 or more years.

“We feel very fortunate to have an attorney of Larry’s character and experience working with us,” says Joe Lucas, a managing member of Pope Flynn, “and we’re gratified that he’s been recognized by his alma mater. Larry is an outstanding representative of the University of South Carolina School of Law, and his competence and expertise are a real asset to our firm and our clients.”

Flynn, who works out of Pope Flynn’s downtown Spartanburg office, serves municipalities and special purpose districts, including water districts and electric cooperatives throughout the Upstate, and other governmental entities; his practice combines public sector law with a general civil practice. Flynn is a certified mediator and arbitrator, a Planning Commission Instructor, and received both his BS and JD degrees from the University of South Carolina. Flynn also serves as a member of the advisory board of the Palmetto Bank, a member of the South Carolina Bar’s “Memory Hold the Door” committee, and is a 30-year member of the Spartanburg Rotary Club.

Members of the Compleat Lawyer award selection committee are Chief Justice Jean Toal, Chief Judge John Few, President of the South Carolina Bar Calhoun Watson, Co-Chair Law School Alumni Council James Bradley, and the Dean of the USC School of Law Robert Wilcox. Video retrospectives and tributes for the platinum award winners were unveiled at a reception and dinner in honor of the recipients; Flynn’s video tribute may be found at youtu.be/9ynjMte_cGw.
