Richland Two Principal wins leadership award

October 9, 2019

Round Top Elementary School Principal Jeaneen Tucker is the recipient of a 2019 WE Are LEADing Award.

“Every day with my aviators is a joyful adventure,” Tucker said. “It’s my honor and privilege to be the principal of Round Top Elementary.”

She was one of two winners announced at the recent Annual Women in Educational Leadership Conference in Greensboro. This is the first award of its kind and was developed by WE LEAD (Women in Educational Leadership) to honor and celebrate the contributions of women in the field of education. WE LEAD was created by Dr. Lillie Cox, a former NC superintendent and school leader. The organization held its third annual conference this year to support the development of women as leaders. The goal of WE LEAD is to increase the number of females who successfully obtain executive positions in educational leadership and positively impact student achievement and school and district culture by retaining those positions.

“Winners of this award are role models for their dedication to their practice, positive outlooks, and genuine compassion for their fellow leaders. They have set a high bar for this award,” said Dr. Cox.

The WE Are LEADing Award recognizes a current and accomplished female leader in a school or district. This person has provided mentorship, guidance, and support to other leaders. The winners have encouraged the development of future and current leaders and have courageously forged the way for others in educational leadership. Over 85 nominations were received from many areas in the Southeast, including NC, SC, GA, AL, and TN, as well as AZ. A committee of retired superintendents independently selected the finalists and met them in person at the conference before making a final decision on the winner.
