Prisma Health announces CEO appointment for Baptist and Parkridge Hospitals in Columbia

October 25, 2022

Anthony Jackson has been appointed to serve as the chief executive officer of Prisma Health Baptist and Baptist Parkridge hospitals.

Jackson, a native of Aiken, South Carolina, was selected for this role based on his 30 years of successful leadership in the healthcare industry, including financial acumen and strategic planning, interpersonal skills and his ability to build effective teams.

“The teams for both hospitals, one that has served Columbia for generations and one that exemplifies the growth and vitality of the communities served by Prisma Health, are beyond impressive. Their dedication at every level is what drew me to this opportunity, to continue the momentum of achievement and collaboration for those who entrust Prisma Health with their care,” said Jackson.

He comes to Prima Health from Roper St. Francis Healthcare System (RSFH) in Charleston, where he served as the senior vice president and chief operating officer. His work at RSFH included time as vice president and CEO for Mount Pleasant and Bon Secours hospitals and for the Acute Care Division. He also served previously as CEO for HealthSouth in Rock Hill and Columbia.

Jackson will work in collaboration with Mike Bundy, who was recently appointed chief executive officer of Richland Hospital, to lead with a united strategy for all three Prima Health hospitals within the Columbia market. Jean Meyer, senior vice president acute care operations and chief nursing executive, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Anthony and have two great leaders supporting a tremendously important part of our Prisma Health organization.”

Jackson brings a deep healthcare background to his role. His mother was an operating room nurse and he grew up hearing about the professions of patient care. He began his career as a diagnostic imaging technician and steadily built the groundwork for his path into hospital administration roles overseeing diagnostic, acute care and rehabilitation. He is known for his visibility and accessibility as a leader who likes to personally engage with team members and stays keenly attuned to the patient experience. He is excited to return to the Midlands and the community connections that welcome his family back to the area.

Jackson holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration from University of Findlay in Ohio and earned his bachelor’s degree from Central Wesleyan University. He began his career in healthcare after initially earning certification as a radiology technician from Trident Technical College.
